Hunting Permit stamps, 1959-1986

The federal hunting permit fee was $3 from 1959-1972, and was raised to $5 for the period 1972-1979 and to $7.50 for the period 1979-1987.

A single example is known of Scott RW41a, with the back inscription omitted and instead printed vertically on the face of the stamp, due to a foldover. This UL plate number single of plate number 172500 is illustrated on page 802 of the 2020 Scott U.S. Specialized Catalogue.
